To send someone one TikTok video or photo post, share the **post link**. Start on the specific post you want them to see, rather than on the creator's profile. TikTok's [sharing instructions](https://support.tiktok.com/en/using-tiktok/exploring-videos/sharing) begin with the post's Share button and then let you choose a sharing method. A post link takes someone to that post; a profile link takes them to an account page.

## Copy a link from a TikTok post

1. Open the video or photo post in the TikTok app.
2. Tap **Share** on the post. Depending on your screen, this may appear as an arrow or a labelled button.
3. Look through the available sharing actions for **Copy link**. If it appears, tap it.
4. Open the message, document, or other destination and paste the copied address. Check the address before sending it so you share the intended post.

TikTok documents the first two steps and says to choose an available sharing method. The exact placement of Copy link can differ between app versions. The older instruction to open **More** first should not be treated as a universal path. If your share menu does not offer Copy link, use a direct share destination that TikTok does offer rather than assuming a hidden button exists.

## Share from a browser

If a post opens in your browser, you can copy the address shown in the browser's address bar and paste it where you want to send the post. Before you do, check that the page shows the right creator and post. This browser method depends on the page being accessible to you; it does not change who is allowed to view it.

## Why a copied post link may not open

Copying an address does not make a restricted post public. TikTok's [post privacy settings](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/video-visibility) let a creator choose an audience such as Everyone, Friends, Followers, or Only you, according to account type. If someone receives a link but cannot view the post, the creator's audience setting is one thing to check. The post may also have been removed or its settings may have changed since the link was sent.

There is a separate distinction between **sharing** a link and **downloading** a file. TikTok says a post may still be shared by link when its creator has turned video downloads off. A missing download option therefore does not necessarily explain a missing or unusable post link. See TikTok's [download settings explanation](https://support.tiktok.com/en/account-and-privacy/account-privacy-settings/video-downloads).

## Did you mean your TikTok profile link?

A post link points to one published item. If you want an address that points to your account instead, use the steps in [How to Get Your TikTok Profile Link](/blog/how-to-get-tiktok-link). This matters when you are adding a link to a contact card or another profile: a single post may be the wrong destination.
