How to Delete Comments on TikTok

Delete a comment you posted or received, manage up to 100 comments on one TikTok post, and choose filters when you want moderation instead of deletion.

Sometimes one comment is the problem. Sometimes a video has a long thread you need to moderate. You might also want to remove something you wrote on somebody else's post. TikTok gives you different controls for each situation, so first decide whose post contains the comment and whether you want to delete an existing comment or control future ones.

The short answer to “Can I delete all my TikTok comments at once?” is that TikTok's current Help instructions do not describe an account-wide delete-all button. They describe deleting an individual comment and selecting up to 100 comments on one of your posts for a batch deletion. If you left comments across other people's posts, find each comment and remove it from its post. Changing who may comment or turning off comments is a moderation setting, not a documented account-wide eraser.

Delete one comment you posted

Open the post that contains your comment in the TikTok app. Open its comment panel, press and hold your comment, and choose Delete. TikTok gives this same documented sequence for a comment you posted and for a comment on your own post. Check the account and post before deleting: similar usernames and reposted clips can make it easy to act in the wrong thread.

If the comment was on somebody else's post, you can remove your own contribution. You cannot use your account to delete everyone else's comments from their post. If you no longer have the original post open, return to the creator's post through a link, notification, or your own records if available. TikTok's data download may include comment history, but it can take time to prepare and may omit some data. A downloaded record helps you review activity; it is not a tool that removes comments.

Do not rely on a promised “silent” deletion. TikTok's current deletion instructions explain how to remove a comment, but they do not establish what another person will or will not have seen in notifications or screenshots. If a comment disclosed private information, delete it promptly, then consider whether you need to take a separate account-safety step.

Delete one comment on your own post

Open your post from your profile, open the comments, press and hold the comment you want to remove, and choose Delete. This is appropriate when the issue is a specific reply: for example, someone posted a phone number, spam link, or abusive remark beneath your video.

Read the full comment before acting. If it appears to violate TikTok's rules, you can report it as well. Reporting asks TikTok to review the content; deleting addresses the comment on your post.

TikTok's labels may differ by app version or language. The stable part of its current instruction is to open the post's comments, long-press the relevant comment, and choose the deletion action. If the menu does not appear, update the app and check that you are signed into the account that owns the post or authored the comment.

Delete several comments on one of your posts

For a busy comment thread, TikTok documents a batch control for comments on your own post:

  1. Open the post and its comment panel in the TikTok app.
  2. Select the Filters button at the top, or press and hold a comment and choose Manage multiple comments.
  3. Select the comments you want removed. TikTok says you can select up to 100.
  4. Choose Delete and confirm the selection.

This is not a universal “select all comments across my account” operation. The documented workflow starts inside one post, and its limit is a maximum selection per batch. Review what you selected before confirming, particularly if a thread contains useful answers alongside spam. For a post with more than 100 comments needing removal, the Help article supports repeated selections only as an inference from the per-batch limit; it does not promise a single operation that clears the whole post. Use the controls you actually see in your account.

If an older tutorial points to a pencil icon, TikTok's current English Help describes Filters or a long press with Manage multiple comments. Follow the label your app displays rather than relying on an older screenshot. If you do not see the multiple-comment option, you can still delete comments individually using TikTok's documented path.

What if you want to delete every comment you have made?

Separate your own comments on other people's posts from replies on your posts. TikTok's batch deletion instructions apply to comments on your post. They do not describe selecting all comments that your account has left across unrelated creators' posts. For those comments, find the original post, open its thread, and delete your own comment one at a time.

If you cannot remember where you commented, do not install an unknown “bulk delete” tool or give a third party your TikTok login just to search your activity. TikTok offers a Download your data request under Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Account → Download your data. The file may include comment history, depending on the information available; it is a way to inspect records, not an editing interface. TikTok cautions that some information can be missing and that preparing a file can take a few days. If the post or account no longer exists, the original comment may not be accessible through the ordinary app flow.

An “all” search can also mean “remove every comment under one video.” TikTok's current documentation gives you a per-post selection of up to 100 comments at a time. It does not document a one-tap wipe of every historical comment on that video. Decide whether you need actual removal or whether limiting new replies would solve the immediate problem with less manual work.

Stop or limit new comments without deleting old ones

When the problem is future replies, change the permission on the specific post. TikTok says to open your post, choose More options, then Privacy settings, and switch Allow comments on or off. You can also make that choice before publishing a new post. This changes who can comment going forward. Do not treat the switch as a proven way to permanently erase comments already written; TikTok's current Help presents it as a permission setting, not a deletion method.

For a broader audience rule, open Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Privacy → Comments → Allow comments from. TikTok lists Everyone for public accounts, Followers for private accounts, and Friends, meaning followers you follow back. Account age and privacy settings may affect what you see. Pick the narrowest setting that still allows the conversations you want. If your concern is only one video, the post setting is more precise than changing your entire account's comment audience.

TikTok also offers filters. Depending on your account, you may be able to filter unwanted comments, specific keywords, or comments TikTok considers inappropriate or offensive. The Filter all comments option hides comments until you approve them, but TikTok says this option is not available to everyone. Go to Privacy → Comments to inspect the filters available to you. The Review filtered comments screen lets you approve or delete filtered comments. A filter's main job is to hold or hide content for review; it does not mean every filtered comment has been deleted.

Use keywords carefully. A broad keyword can catch harmless discussion as well as the language you intended to limit. Review the filtered queue so useful questions do not disappear by accident. If a specific account repeatedly sends unwanted comments, TikTok's comment Help also points to reporting and blocking controls. Those are account and safety decisions, separate from cleaning one thread.

Which option fits your situation?

Your goalTikTok control described in current HelpScope
Remove something you wroteLong-press your comment → DeleteThat comment on its original post
Remove one reply beneath your postLong-press that comment → DeleteThat comment
Remove several replies beneath your postFilters or Manage multiple comments → select → DeleteUp to 100 selected comments in one post's batch
Stop new replies to one postThat post's Privacy settings → Allow commentsPermission for that post
Limit who may reply account-widePrivacy → Comments → Allow comments fromAudience setting for your posts
Hold possible spam or keyword matchesPrivacy → Comments → comment filtersVisibility and review, subject to available features

If your goal is to preserve evidence of abuse, consider recording the information you need before deleting it and use TikTok's report option where appropriate. If your goal is simply to tidy a conversation, start with targeted deletion. If every new thread becomes difficult to manage, adjust permissions or filters rather than repeatedly clearing comments by hand.

Common questions

Can I delete all TikTok comments in one tap?

TikTok's current Help does not document one account-wide delete-all control. It documents one-comment deletion and a selection of up to 100 comments on your post. A broad cleanup therefore involves checking the relevant posts and repeating documented actions as needed.

Can I delete comments I left on other people's videos?

Yes. TikTok says you can long-press a comment you posted and select Delete. Open the original post to do it. The bulk manager in TikTok's Help is for comments on your post, so do not assume it works across comments you left elsewhere.

Does turning off comments delete the comments already there?

TikTok describes Allow comments as a comment permission setting. Its current Help does not say that changing the switch permanently deletes prior comments. Use Delete when removal is what you need; use the switch to manage commenting on that post.

Why can't I see Filter all comments?

TikTok explicitly says this feature is not available to everyone. Other filters or the per-comment deletion controls may still be available. Check Privacy → Comments in your own account for the controls your app offers.

Will TikTok notify someone that I removed their comment?

The official Help instructions checked for this article do not answer that question. Do not promise that a deletion is invisible to the author, especially when a person may already have seen or saved the conversation.

TikTok can change labels and eligibility. These steps reflect its English Help pages checked on 2 October 2026. If your app looks different, start from the current post's comment panel or Privacy → Comments, then follow the choices available in your account.
