How to Turn Off Digital Creator on Facebook
Decide whether to change the Digital creator profile category or turn off Facebook professional mode, then review the effects and public view.
If your Facebook profile shows Digital creator, first decide what you want to change. The visible words may be a profile category, while professional mode is the setting that gives an eligible profile access to creator tools. Changing a category is a smaller decision than turning off professional mode. If you want to stop using the professional tools, look for the professional-mode option on your profile, read Facebook's confirmation screen, and turn it off only after checking what your account says will change. Do not assume either action makes all your information private. Meta describes professional mode as a way to build a public presence from an existing personal profile.
Decide whether the label or the mode is the problem
A category is a public description of the profile. Professional mode is a profile setting associated with tools such as a professional dashboard, content insights and, for eligible accounts, monetization opportunities. The two may appear together, but they answer different questions: “What does this profile say I do?” and “Which professional tools are enabled?” Meta's professional-mode help describes these profile and tool controls; the exact options can vary by account.
If you only dislike the Digital creator wording, look in your profile's edit/details controls for a category setting. If Facebook offers an alternative category or a visibility control, review the choices and their public preview. This may let you change the displayed wording without switching off the tools. Do not select a category that falsely describes you just to remove the original label. If no category control is present, do not assume an old guide's menu path is still available for your account.
If you want to stop using the professional dashboard, public creator features, or a setting you turned on for the profile, review the option to turn off professional mode. Read Facebook's own explanation at the final confirmation step; it is the most relevant account-specific description of what you will lose or keep.
Review the effects before turning the mode off
Meta says professional mode adds ways to build a public presence while keeping the personal profile experience. It can make creator tools and analytics available and can make some accounts eligible for earning products. Eligibility is not automatic and differs by product and location. A Digital creator label does not prove that someone is paid, verified, or able to use every monetization feature. Meta's creator-tools announcement describes these as opportunities and tools, not guaranteed income.
Look at any professional dashboard you actually use and note the insights or tools you might need before changing the setting. If you have an active earning product, check its specific terms, status and any pending payment information in Facebook's own interface. This article cannot promise that a particular payment, insight history, follower setting, or feature will survive a mode change. Read the warnings shown on your account before confirming.
A mode change is also not a universal privacy reset. Your audience settings for posts, stories, profile details, and how people find you are separate controls. Facebook's privacy-settings guide lists these areas under Audience and visibility and notes that choices may differ by profile type. Review them before and after the change if privacy is the reason you are here. Do not rely on an old claim that professional mode automatically reveals hidden personal details or that turning it off automatically hides them again.
Turn off professional mode if that is your choice
Open the Facebook profile whose mode you want to change. Look in the profile's available options for Turn off professional mode or a similarly named professional-mode control. If you do not see it, check that you are on the intended personal profile rather than a Page or another profile; the interface may also have moved. Facebook's professional-mode help is the place to verify the current path for your device and account.
Before confirming, read the screen that explains the effect on your tools. Check the profile name, especially if you switch between profiles. If the warning names a feature you depend on, leave the setting unchanged while you review that feature's terms. Once you confirm, revisit the profile and the relevant dashboard or setting to check the result. An absent creator tool does not tell you what happened to every post or follower; review those separately.
If your aim was only to change a displayed category, you may not need to turn off professional mode at all. Keep the two decisions separate instead of treating Digital creator as the name of an on/off switch.
Check your public profile afterward
Use Facebook's View As public-profile preview if it is available to your account. Meta's View As guidance explains how to inspect what a non-friend can see. Look at the profile category, public details, current profile and cover photos, and public posts. Remember that current profile and cover photos are public under Meta's Help guidance. Turning off professional mode does not make a current profile photo friends-only.
Then review post audiences and follower settings in Settings & privacy → Audience and visibility. If a post was public before, check its own audience rather than assuming it changed with the mode. If you are tagged in someone else's post, use Profile and tagging controls; professional mode is not a substitute for tag review. Meta's privacy guide treats these as separate settings.
Common questions
Is Digital Creator the same as professional mode?
No. Digital creator can describe the category displayed on a profile; professional mode is the setting for a group of profile tools. The label and mode can be connected on an account, but changing a label is not the same action as turning the mode off. Check what Facebook offers on your own profile before choosing.
Will turning off professional mode hide my posts from strangers?
Do not assume so. Review each post's audience and the other public details on your profile. Facebook separates those privacy controls from professional-mode tools. Its public-profile preview can help you see the result from a non-friend's perspective.
Will I lose my friends or my content?
This guide cannot guarantee every account-specific consequence. Read Facebook's confirmation screen before switching the mode off and verify the profile afterward. Do not delete the profile or account as a shortcut to removing a creator label.
The safe sequence is to identify the exact setting you dislike, change only that setting, and then inspect the public view. That avoids giving up useful tools or relying on a mode switch for privacy changes it does not promise.
