How to Find and Use TikTok Commercial Sounds
Find TikTok Commercial Sounds from a business or personal account and check region, placement, and promotional-use rights before publishing.
TikTok’s Commercial Music Library (CML) contains tracks pre-cleared for commercial use on TikTok. It is the place TikTok recommends starting when a post promotes a brand, product, or service. The track still needs to be available for the region and placement you intend to use.
Find Commercial Sounds in the app
TikTok’s current CML instructions distinguish account types:
- Business account: Start a new video and choose Add Sound. TikTok says the picker shows Commercial Sounds.
- Personal account: Open Sounds and select Commercial Sounds from the sound-category menu. A personal account can access this library too.
Screen labels and layout may change with app version. If you do not see a track, check the account type, region, and whether that sound is offered for the format you are making.
Check the use before selecting a track
In TikTok’s CML tools, select the region where the campaign will run, then filter for the intended placement, mood, genre, or duration. TikTok says selected Commercial Sounds can be used for organic or paid content on TikTok. This does not grant permission to export a track for another platform or to use a separate recording outside the applicable terms.
If you instead want music outside the CML in a promotional post, TikTok says its other music licenses do not cover that commercial use. Its commercial music guidance calls for the necessary rights and a Music Usage Confirmation when the content disclosure setting is on. Do not treat another user’s original sound as cleared simply because it appears in the picker.
A short decision check
Before posting, ask: Does this promote a brand, product, or service? Is the selected track a Commercial Sound for the target region and placement? If it is not, do I have the necessary permission for the recording and music? Save the license information or the platform’s track details with your campaign records.
