How to Get to TikTok Shop
Find TikTok Shop in the app through a visible Shop tab, search, or product links. Learn why the tab may be absent and what to check before buying.
Short answer: Open the TikTok app and look for a Shop tab. If you do not see one, search for a product in TikTok or look for a product link on a video or LIVE. TikTok says Shop content can appear in feeds, search, and the Shop tab where available. A missing tab does not, by itself, tell you why it is missing or prove that every shopping feature is unavailable to your account. TikTok's guide to content discovery describes these access paths.
The important qualification is where available. TikTok's navigation and shopping features vary by location and account. An instruction that begins and ends with “tap Shop at the bottom of your screen” will fail for someone whose app does not display that tab. This guide starts with what you can actually see, then explains other ways to find a product and what to do if shopping is not offered.
Start with the Shop tab if you have it
Open the regular TikTok app and check its main navigation for Shop. If the tab is visible, tap it. From there, browse the items TikTok displays or use the search control within that section if it appears on your version of the app. You can open a listing to read its details before deciding whether to add it to a cart or continue toward checkout. The exact location of controls may change with app updates, so use the labels on your screen rather than relying on an old screenshot.
Do not confuse the Shop tab with a creator's ordinary profile, a sponsored post, or a link in a bio. The tab is a shopping surface inside TikTok; a creator's profile may contain a mix of posts, product links, and external links. A visible product card is a more useful sign that you have reached a product listing than the fact that a video talks about an item.
If you are simply trying to look around, you can stop at the listing. Opening a product is not the same as placing an order. Before buying, check the listed seller, product details, delivery destination, total price, and the return information shown for your market. Availability of an item is not a promise that it ships to your location.
Search inside TikTok for a product
If there is no Shop tab, try TikTok's search feature. Search for the item itself, a product category, or the seller's name. In markets and accounts where TikTok Shop content appears, you may see shoppable listings or posts with product links among the results. TikTok explicitly identifies search as one way users may discover Shop content. Search results are personalized, so another person's results or a tutorial screenshot may not match yours.
Look carefully at the result you open. A video mentioning a product is not automatically a TikTok Shop listing. A seller may also direct viewers to an external website. If the result has a product link or card, follow it to inspect the item; if it only has a general website link, you are leaving the in-app product path. Read the destination before entering payment details. Search can help you find an item, but it cannot create a Shop feature that is not available to your account or location.
Search is often the most useful second check when a Shop tab is missing. It also lets you search for a specific item rather than assuming that the first products displayed in a shopping feed represent everything available. If your search shows ordinary videos only, that may reflect the query, your account's available features, or the market. The screen alone does not identify which explanation applies.
Follow a product link from a video or LIVE
Another route is a shoppable video or LIVE that displays a product link. TikTok says Shop products can appear through content in users' feeds as well as search and a Shop tab. Open the product card or link if one is actually displayed. You should then be able to read the listing details available to your account. A creator's mention of a product, a hashtag, or a comment saying “link in bio” is not itself a Shop product link.
This route is useful when you already saw a particular item in a post. Return to that post and inspect its visible product card rather than searching for a generic name and assuming you have found the same seller or model. Check size, color, quantity, seller, shipping, and the final amount for the specific listing. Similar-looking products can have different terms.
TikTok Shop is a marketplace with sellers, not a guarantee that TikTok endorses any individual product. For US purchases, TikTok's Buyer Policy says the customer purchases from the seller, and it describes eligibility and possible taxes or fees. Other markets can have different terms. Use the terms displayed for your location and order rather than applying the US policy worldwide.
Why is the Shop tab missing?
The first possibility is straightforward: the Shop tab may not be offered in your region or to your account. TikTok itself qualifies the tab as available only in some places. There may also be differences between the main app, other TikTok surfaces, and particular app versions. We cannot infer your exact reason from a missing icon alone.
Check the simplest things first. Make sure you are in the TikTok app on the account you intend to use, and check whether the main navigation actually contains Shop. Then use search for a specific product and inspect a relevant video for a product card. If these routes do not show shopping features, do not follow instructions that require you to change your location or use somebody else's account. That would not establish eligibility and can create account or order problems.
If the feature used to appear and suddenly does not, update the app through your device's official app store and reopen it. This is a general troubleshooting step, not a guarantee that an update will add a region-limited feature. If TikTok's interface reports a specific account restriction or error, follow the in-app help path for that notice. You can also use Profile → Menu → Settings and privacy → Report a problem to describe the missing feature; TikTok documents that route. Include the app version, approximate time, and the message you see, but do not post account credentials or payment details in a public comment.
Can you buy without a Shop tab?
Possibly, if your app shows an eligible product link through search, a video, or LIVE and your account can continue to the purchase flow. TikTok's own description includes those discovery paths even when it calls the tab conditional. A visible listing is a way to check your actual access; it is not a promise that every product can be delivered or that every account can pay. If a product page refuses checkout or does not offer shipping to your destination, follow that on-screen result.
The original version of this article said every transaction stays inside TikTok. That statement is too broad. TikTok Shop product paths and ads or external merchant links are different experiences. Pay attention to the page or app that opens when you choose a product. If it takes you to an external store, that store's checkout and policies govern that purchase. If it is a TikTok Shop order, review the order details and applicable TikTok Shop and seller terms shown at checkout. Avoid assuming the same refund or payment rules apply to both.
For buyers, the US TikTok Shop Buyer Policy sets a minimum age of 18 in that market and notes that eligibility information may be required. Other markets can have different local age requirements. If you cannot continue to checkout, do not try to work around an age, market, or account restriction. Check the eligibility information TikTok presents for your location.
A quick access checklist
- Open your TikTok app and look for Shop in the main navigation. Use it if it is present.
- If no tab appears, search for the product or seller within TikTok and check whether a genuine product card is available.
- If you saw the item in a video or LIVE, return to that content and open its displayed product link, if there is one.
- On the listing, check seller, item variation, delivery destination, price, and applicable order terms before buying.
- If no shopping route appears, check app updates and TikTok's in-app Help. Treat the feature as unavailable to you until TikTok shows an eligible path.
The route to TikTok Shop is therefore the one your app actually provides: a visible tab, a product result in search, or a product link in content. Start there, and let the listing and checkout screen confirm what is available to your account and location.
